THE BACK NINE

“You are never too old to set another goal or dream a new dream.”

                                                     -C. S. Lewis

I played in a golf tournament this weekend, and while I thoroughly enjoyed the company of the other players and the competition, the event itself made me pause and come to grips with reality.  You see, I’m not one to think of myself as old. As my friend Andy would say, “I’m a gross 67, but a net 28.”  The tournament was the Senior Club Championship.

”Every human being, of whatever origin,

of whatever station, deserves respect.

We must each respect others

                                                      – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Do you remember Rodney’s Dangerfield’s take on “ Respect”?   Do you feel respected?  Do you give respect?  When?  Where?  How do you express it?  Respect is something each of us want, but also something that we sometimes need to be reminded to give.

Respect is defined as, “a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements.”

A NIGHT AT THE BEACH

“I think that’s the single best piece
of advice; constantly think about
how you could be doing things better
and questioning yourself” – E. Musk

Last week I had the opportunity to get away and spend time with my family.  The days were spent at the beach, shopping, or playing inside with the grandchildren (the “pups”).  During the early evening we found “children-friendly” restaurants in which to have dinner and then settled into the “bedtime routines”. Most evenings my son and I would go to the beach after everyone had gone to bed.

A WEDNESDAY MORNING THOUGHT

“If you’re feeling good, then you’re creating a future that’s on track with your desires…..As you go about your day, the law of attraction is working in every second. Everything we think and feel is creating our future.” – Rhonda Byrne (The Secret)

It’s going to be a great day, and you are going to create it!  How?  Begin by talking with a colleague or friend about something good. It can be about the wonderful things coming your way soon, or the great things that happened yesterday, a month ago, or last year.

WHAT IS YOUR QUESTION

What has a head, a tail, is brown and has no legs?

The phrase, “Ask me no questions, I will tell you no lies.” is attributed to Irish playwright Oliver Goldsmith (1728-1774).  Today a better phrase might be, “Ask me purposeful questions and I can tell you no lies”.  We live in an era of continual change.  We have come to learn that there are no final solutions or answers, only conclusions that are subject to new questions.  In fact it is our ability to effectively question that creates new opportunity.
