A Better Version

My mission?  Being myself.  Helping others.
Becoming a better version of myself!

The other evening I received a software update for my iPhone.  Version 14.4.1 was now available and installation would provide me with important security updates.  Likewise a recent update for my watch (os 7.3.2) addressed memory corruption issues with improved validation (I wish the same update was available in a pill form, as my memory corruption issues seem to be more frequent with each passing birthday.).  Like so many other businesses, Apple recognizes that in order to keep its market share, their products must be in a state of continuous improvement.

Driving Out the Snakes

“May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.”

This coming Wednesday we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. The day is usually celebrated with a “wearing of the green”, parades, celebrations, traditional meals and lifting a glass or two in  remembrance of the man who, according to legend, stood on an Irish hillside and delivered a sermon that drove the island’s serpents into the sea. Some scholars believe the snake story is an allegory for St.

Taking Stock

“Too busy is a myth!
People make time for the things and people
that are important to them.”

For the past few months I’ve pursued a personal growth program that focuses on mind, body, and spirit.  Participation requires a willingness to push oneself and be pushed by a team, a hunger to pursue challenges that demand growth, a motivation to serve something greater than the individual, and a desire to be an active part of a real community of people driving each other a little harder.

What I Meant to Say

“The single biggest problem in communication
is the illusion that it has occurred.”
– G.B Shaw

From a literary perspective, “Tone” expresses the writer’s attitude toward, or feelings about, the subject matter or audience.  In the age of COVID we have all become authors; email has become an integral part of daily online life.  In 2020, roughly 306.4 billion emails were sent and received each day, and the figure is expected to increase to over 361.6 billion daily in 2024.  So let me ask you a question, when you prepare an email how much consideration do you give its tone?

Lighting the Candle

“We are not here to curse the darkness,
but to light the candle that can guide us
to a safe and sane future” – JFK

Prior to COVID-19 we called it Work/Life Balance; a state of equilibrium where a person equally prioritized the demands of a career and the demands of a personal life.  The balance has gone by the wayside; today I think of it more as Work/Life Confusion.  For many, life itself has become their work.  Some spend their days seeking employment while simultaneously helping their children complete online classes and assignments.
